Ecotourism is the main activity in this zone. It offers various entertainment options such as walks through paths, birdwatching and cavalcades. But it also offers alternatives for resting, health and relax, with a variety of hot springs and natural mud pools.

This region offers visitors the opportunity lo live unforgetable experiences, such as whale and dolphin watching, also a variety of reptiles can be seen. All this is presented within an atmosphere of exuberant mangrove swamps and landscapes which are typical of the humid tropical forest

This zone goes from Puntarenas down to the place known as “Dominical de Osa.” Its three main cities: Quepos, Jacó and Puntarenas, are highly developed in terms of tourism. The islands on Golfo de Nicoya can be accesed mainly from Puntarenas. Important wildlife areas can be found in this zone. They are home to a great variety of flora and fauna species.

This territory, about 100 km (62 miles), goes from the border with Nicaragua to Punta Cerritos (20 km, 12.5 miles, from Santa Cruz). It is currently one of the most visited places, due to its incredible tourist development, which can be seen in Golfo de Papagayo Tourist Complex.
