Location: Nestled in the mountains adjacent to the MonteverdeCloud Forest Preserve.

How to get there: If you drive to Monteverde from San Jose you need totake the Inter American Highway, the same one that passes Juan SantamariaInternational Airport, and follow the signs to Puntarenas and then to Cañas andBagaces. Stay on this road and right before the bridge at río Lagartos there isa gravel road to the right. At this point you will have travelled 100 miles(160 km) from San Jose. Take this right turn and travel 22 miles (35 km) of gravel road all the way up to Santa Elena and Monteverde.
